Design for people. They're not using it wrong. Take people the way they are, not the way you want them to be.
Perform research activities to focus on what customers need. -
Never solve the problem you're asked to solve. Keep asking why until you find the root causes. If you solve the symptoms, the problem will come back.

Prototype and test with real users, repetitively. Refine what you are doing based on observations. The perfect design right now, isn't perfect in a year.
